Becca is accused of poisoning her daughter – she must find out who is behind this and get her daughter back. Full of second guessing… who is responsible? You are left guessing through out who of her nearest and dearest could possibly be betraying her in such a horrendous manner and why? I was hooked from start to finish and would definitely recommend this book.
In the 21st century, information is king. But computers can be hacked and files can be broken into – so a unique government initiative has been born. Five ordinary people have been selected to become Minders – the latest weapon in thwarting cyberterrorism. Transformed by a revolutionary medical procedure, the country’s most classified information has been taken offline and turned into genetic code implanted inside their heads.
Together, the five know every secret – the truth behind every government lie, conspiracy theory and cover up. In return, they’re given the chance to leave their problems behind and a blank slate to start their lives anew.
But not everyone should be trusted, especially when they each have secrets of their own they’ll do anything to protect…
WOW yet again John Marrs writes an excellent drama…I am not usually a fan of stories set in the future or of books with more than a few characters so I put off reading this book for a while… but as it was written by John Marrs I just had to read it as everything he has written so far has been given a 5* from me! I was not disappointed…
Despite my concerns John Marrs makes the many characters easy to follow using reminders of who they are at the start of their chapters very cleverly without rehashing old ground. I love the way he writes and can always follow the plot despite not always understanding the futuristic technological references! I’m so impressed by how he put this together with such detail for all of the characters. I also loved the refences to The One and The Passengers which are both excellent books.
The story had me gripped and not wanting to put it down. I would certainly recommend this and all of his other books.
There is a body found in Tabatha’s shed – its her neighbour. She must be guilty right? She never really fitted into the village, everyone has an opinion on the funny dressed girl, she must have done it.
Tabatha is in prison awaiting trial for Murder on a day that she is struggling to remember clearly. She has everything to lose and no one to help her. This is a fight for her life….
The story is very interesting as it follows Tabatha from prison to the court room. I found it to be a great read, it kept my interest and I will be looking for more by this author.
The narration was excellent. A great tone of voice and read at a good pace.
WOW what an absolutely stunning 5 Star read from cover to cover. A very emotional tale of an elementary school shooting and the total devastation caused by such a terrible event. The total heartbreak for a family trying to recover from such events and the trauma caused to a child who managed to survive. Told from the young survivors point of view it will tug at your heartstrings. Absolutely recommend.
So I’ve not posted in a while… I’ve been lucky enough to have been reading some ARCs that I’m not allowed to write about until nearer their release date, so I thought i’d mention an absolutely brilliant book that I recommend to ANYONE!
The One by John Marrs
If you could take a simple DNA test that matched you with your one true love would you take it? That’s what the characters in this book can do and if their match has registered too, meet them and fall in unconditional lover forever.. Sounds perfect hey? Why wouldn’t you!
The result are in, the matches made but not all of them are matches made in heaven……
This is a great book full of excellent characters you wont want this read to end and you’ll be recommending to everyone you know!
Absolutely 5* from me……
So today is day one of both this blog and of my book reviewing.
Today I reviewed Mark Edwards “The Lucky Ones” which I was lucky enough to have received and advanced copy of. Being dyslexic and having ADHD, writing is NOT my forte! However I LOVE to read, I get through about 4 books a week and its expensive, hence signing up to be a reviewer, I get a free book, they get a review – perfect
A brilliant and complex story, which kept me guessing all the way through.
I was a “lucky One” and would like to thank Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, it started off quickly -straight into the story, keeping me turning the pages and trying to guess the outcome right from the start.
The characters are likable which always helps me when reading a story; I find you need to care enough about them to hold interest in what is going to happen.
There is enough Crime procedural and thriller mixed together to make a great story from different perspectives.
It is easy to read but yet a complex and clever story, certainly grabbing my interest early on and holding it until the end.
