To sum it up, this is an extremely great read. The story was very engaging and easy to follow despite the dual time line. Full of mystery and intrigue, it kept me turning the pages looking for answers well into the night.
I will certainly be recommending this book to fellow readers and friends alike. I will also be looking into more by this author.
The story starts with Fran, she has her bags packed and she is leaving. She has left letters for her abusive husband Pete and her beloved son Harry, and she is heading to the airport to run away with Jack.
The story then flicks to Jacks wife, Helena and we hear her side of the story.
I liked the way we heard first Frans side, the Helena’s and then both as their tales intertwined, rather than flipping between chapters for each. This is a really well written tale of romance lies and dreams. I was invested in both wives’ tales and it made me think!
As soon as I started hearing about this book I just HAD to have it! Exactly my kind of read, a great plot, and only a few characters to get to know.
Hannah has not too long left a long term relationship that just wasn’t going anywhere, she wants to find the one, have 3 kids and a Labrador and she wants it now, so when her boss and best friend encourages her to go on the dating app, she finally agrees…
The tale begins at the restaurant, Hannah and Alex are on their first date they have EVERYTHING in common including their dreams for the future. It couldn’t be going any better.. he is very good looking and seems to be really interested in everything she has to say – this could be it, this could be her “the one” but is it just to good to be true?
You’ve heard the saying “ I couldn’t put it down”? well I HAD to put it down, I really didn’t want the book to end so I stalled and stalled savouring it for as long as I could – I managed to spread it over 3 days treating myself to it and loving every word. It’s so full of suspense and I was constantly guessing what was going to come next and often getting it wrong! Full of twists and surprises throughout the story kept me thoroughly entertained I would most certainly recommend this book to anyone who like a Domestic Thriller.
I shall now be going through Sue Watsons back catalogue and seeing what other delights she has to offer!
Becca is accused of poisoning her daughter – she must find out who is behind this and get her daughter back. Full of second guessing… who is responsible? You are left guessing through out who of her nearest and dearest could possibly be betraying her in such a horrendous manner and why? I was hooked from start to finish and would definitely recommend this book.
In the 21st century, information is king. But computers can be hacked and files can be broken into – so a unique government initiative has been born. Five ordinary people have been selected to become Minders – the latest weapon in thwarting cyberterrorism. Transformed by a revolutionary medical procedure, the country’s most classified information has been taken offline and turned into genetic code implanted inside their heads.
Together, the five know every secret – the truth behind every government lie, conspiracy theory and cover up. In return, they’re given the chance to leave their problems behind and a blank slate to start their lives anew.
But not everyone should be trusted, especially when they each have secrets of their own they’ll do anything to protect…
WOW yet again John Marrs writes an excellent drama…I am not usually a fan of stories set in the future or of books with more than a few characters so I put off reading this book for a while… but as it was written by John Marrs I just had to read it as everything he has written so far has been given a 5* from me! I was not disappointed…
Despite my concerns John Marrs makes the many characters easy to follow using reminders of who they are at the start of their chapters very cleverly without rehashing old ground. I love the way he writes and can always follow the plot despite not always understanding the futuristic technological references! I’m so impressed by how he put this together with such detail for all of the characters. I also loved the refences to The One and The Passengers which are both excellent books.
The story had me gripped and not wanting to put it down. I would certainly recommend this and all of his other books.
There is a body found in Tabatha’s shed – its her neighbour. She must be guilty right? She never really fitted into the village, everyone has an opinion on the funny dressed girl, she must have done it.
Tabatha is in prison awaiting trial for Murder on a day that she is struggling to remember clearly. She has everything to lose and no one to help her. This is a fight for her life….
The story is very interesting as it follows Tabatha from prison to the court room. I found it to be a great read, it kept my interest and I will be looking for more by this author.
The narration was excellent. A great tone of voice and read at a good pace.
Oliver has an extremely overbearing mother desperate to see him settle down with the right girl and start a family. This is becoming more and more important to her in light that her husband, Oliver’s father, is extremely sick and she wants him all settled down and happy should the worst happen. Oliver’s mother is constantly nagging him about this and so when he meets Victoria they agree to a deal where she pretends to be his fiancé to appease her. As the story progresses they become closer and closer and boundaries of the deal are crossed…..
I really enjoyed this easy to listen to romance.
I am not normally a fan of the author narrating the story – due to their lack of acting skills and experience, however on this occasion its exactly what I wanted! Having seen Georgia on television over the years I knew her extremely posh British accent would be a dream to listen to, and I was not wrong. She narrated it very well and at a perfect pace.
This is an absolutely great read! Full of suspense, drama and more than a few twists! The story starts with a new couple moving in next door and then the drama unfolds… It’s a real page turner of a tale! Halfway through the story I thought I had it sussed then BAM the twists started and I was guessing and page turning until the end.
I love it when there are more than one narrator, this makes it much easier to follow when the story is being told from different perspectives.
WOW what an absolutely stunning 5 Star read from cover to cover. A very emotional tale of an elementary school shooting and the total devastation caused by such a terrible event. The total heartbreak for a family trying to recover from such events and the trauma caused to a child who managed to survive. Told from the young survivors point of view it will tug at your heartstrings. Absolutely recommend.
